The older modular line used a proprietary 60mm thickness with a chamfered edge profile, 3.86 inches by 5.91 inches, that does not interlock with standard Belgard or Techo-Bloc units. If your driveway was installed between 2012 and 2018, check the underside for the embossed “BL” stamp and a two-digit year code. The newer Belgard-partnered product is stamped “BL-BG” and matches Belgard’s spec sheets exactly.

• Edge restraints pulling away from the perimeter, creating a gap where pavers can drift. The plastic stakes degrade in UV, or the restraint was installed with landscape spikes instead of the 10-inch steel nails the spec calls for. Once the edge goes, the field pavers follow.

DIY or Call Us?

There is no high-tension danger in paver work the way there is with garage door springs or electrical panels, but there is a point where DIY becomes expensive self-teaching. A homeowner can safely pull a few pavers, check the bedding sand depth, and verify whether the base is crushed aggregate or just native soil. If the base is native soil, or if the area is larger than about 30 square feet, the repair requires plate compaction in lifts and laser-level grading that most rental yards do not equip you to execute.
