If you don’t have that packet, measure the paver thickness at an edge, 60mm sits flush with a standard concrete curb, 80mm overhangs slightly.

OEM replacement through Abodu directly is possible but slow, often 3-4 weeks for paver matching from their central warehouse. Signs Your Abodu Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

• Sinking or tilting near the ADU utility chase. The trench for electrical and plumbing runs beneath most Abodu driveways in Santa Clara, and if the backfill wasn’t compacted in lifts, it settles over 18-36 months, taking pavers with it. We see this most often in the One series builds from 2019-2021.
• Efflorescence whitening that won’t brush off. White mineral deposits on paver surfaces mean moisture is migrating through the joint sand and bedding layer, usually because the initial polymeric sand application was skipped or washed out before curing. Santa Clara’s winter rains accelerate this if the seal coat was never applied.
• Joint sand washing out between pavers. When the sand disappears, the interlock fails and individual pavers rock under tire load. This starts at the driveway apron where Caltrans street sweepers and homeowner pressure washers blast the surface most aggressively.
• Chipped or spalled paver corners, especially on 60mm units. The 80mm upgrade is the fix, not another 60mm replacement.
• Standing water more than 30 minutes after rain. Proper paver installation pitches 1/4 inch per foot toward drainage; Abodu subcontractors working tight schedules sometimes achieve only 1/8 inch or less. In Santa Clara’s clay-heavy soils near the Guadalupe River corridor, that slight flat spot becomes a persistent puddle.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely check: lift one paver at the edge with a flathead screwdriver and photograph the base layer. If you see mud, organic material, or loose sand instead of 3/4-inch crushed aggregate compacted in 6-inch lifts, the prep was skipped and the fix is more than surface-level. You can also check your Abodu documentation for the paver spec and compare thickness to what’s installed.

Where DIY goes wrong: relaying pavers without recompacting the base in lifts with a plate compactor guarantees the same settlement in one season. Santa Clara’s expansive clay soils require 95% Proctor density or better, which a hand tamper won’t achieve. And the polymeric sand activation, sprinkling water across the surface to set the binder, is easy to overdo and leave a haze that etches the paver face.
