Blanco Driveway & Pavers: The Santa Clara Owner’s Guide

Blanco driveway and paver systems in Santa Clara typically run $7,000-$18,000 for full paver installation and $5,000-$14,000 for replacement, with compatible replacement segments and edge restraints usually available same week. We stock Blanco-compatible paver units, bedding sand, and edge restraint profiles for the Santa Clara market, and we quote every job with a flat written price before any work starts. Most homeowners notice the problem first as settling near the garage apron or as weed growth between joints that used to stay tight, especially after the heavy winter rains we get off the Bay.

Which Blanco Models This Applies To

Blanco’s hardscape line in California splits into two families: the modular paver systems sold through regional masonry yards from 2012 to 2019, and the current Belgard-partnered production that carries Blanco labeling but uses Belgard’s Catalina, Dublin, and Holland stone molds. The older modular line used a proprietary 60mm thickness with a chamfered edge profile, 3.86 inches by 5.91 inches, that does not interlock with standard Belgard or Techo-Bloc units. If your driveway was installed between 2012 and 2018, check the underside for the embossed “BL” stamp and a two-digit year code. The newer Belgard-partnered product is stamped “BL-BG” and matches Belgard’s spec sheets exactly.

We carry both profiles in our Santa Clara inventory, plus the matching edge restraints. The OEM Blanco edge restraint for the modular line was a black PVC snap-in profile, 8 feet long, that is now discontinued. We source an equivalent from a commercial-grade supplier that matches the 1.5-inch height and 0.5-inch wall thickness. For the Belgard-partnered line, we use Belgard’s own edge restraint, which is the same part with different branding. Rowan Construction Group Santa Clara is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Blanco.

Signs Your Blanco Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

Signs Your Blanco Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
  • Sunken or tilted pavers near the garage or walkway edge. This usually means the bedding sand layer has washed out or the base aggregate was not compacted to 98% standard Proctor density when the driveway was first laid. In Santa Clara, the clay-heavy soils near the Caltrain corridor hold water longer than the sandy loam up toward Alviso, so settling shows up faster in those neighborhoods.
  • Weeds growing thick between joints that were previously tight. The polymeric sand has degraded, which happens faster on south-facing driveways where summer surface temperatures exceed 140°F. Once the binder breaks down, organic material fills the joint and seeds itself.
  • Pavers rocking underfoot or sounding hollow when tapped. The bedding sand has migrated, leaving a void. This is common after irrigation misalignment or downspout discharge that was never redirected. The paver itself is usually intact, but the support layer has failed.
  • Chipped or spalled surface, especially on the 2012-2018 modular line. Blanco’s earlier concrete mix had a lower MPa rating, around 35 MPa, versus the 45+ MPa that Belgard and Techo-Bloc were using at the same time. Freeze-thaw is rare here, but thermal cycling from 45°F winter nights to 105°F August afternoons stresses the weaker matrix.
  • Edge restraints pulling away from the perimeter, creating a gap where pavers can drift. The plastic stakes degrade in UV, or the restraint was installed with landscape spikes instead of the 10-inch steel nails the spec calls for. Once the edge goes, the field pavers follow.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Scope Price Range (Santa Clara)
Spot repair, 50-150 sq ft, with base re-compaction $1,200-$3,500
Edge restraint replacement, full perimeter $800-$2,200
Polymeric sand re-application, full driveway $900-$2,100
Partial paver replacement with matching stock $1,800-$4,500
Full driveway replacement, Blanco-compatible pavers $7,000-$18,000

The range depends on three things: how much base repair is needed, whether we can source matching pavers or must blend in a close substitute, and access for our compaction equipment. Every quote is a flat price with a written scope. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, that price is delivered before any work starts, and no change proceeds without a signed change order. Our paver work carries a 365-Day Done Right Promise, and you receive a documented photo record of the substrate condition, the base layer, and the finished surface.

DIY or Call Us?

There is no high-tension danger in paver work the way there is with garage door springs or electrical panels, but there is a point where DIY becomes expensive self-teaching. A homeowner can safely pull a few pavers, check the bedding sand depth, and verify whether the base is crushed aggregate or just native soil. If the base is native soil, or if the area is larger than about 30 square feet, the repair requires plate compaction in lifts and laser-level grading that most rental yards do not equip you to execute.

We have also seen homeowners apply polymeric sand over wet pavers, or sweep it in before a rain, creating a haze that cannot be removed without acid washing. The product is not forgiving. If you are unsure about the base condition or the paver match, call (669) 259-1843 and we will schedule a free estimate with a written price.
