The EverGrain boards are 1-inch by 5.5-inch actual dimensions, not nominal, which matters when you’re matching to existing 6-inch-on-center rail spacing from another brand. Post sleeves are 5-inch square for line posts and 6-inch square for gate posts, with internal aluminum stiffeners on the gate assemblies.

To identify your system, check the bottom edge of a picket or the underside of the top rail for the Tamko stamp and date code. The four-digit date code (week/year) tells us which resin batch formula you have, pre-2018 versus post-2018, because the UV stabilizer package changed and affects color-match on repairs. Signs Your Tamko Fence Installation Is Failing

• Posts lean or wobble at grade. In Santa Clara’s expansive clay soils, especially in the older neighborhoods north of El Camino Real, posts set without proper drainage gravel or below the 24-inch frost depth work loose. The concrete footing tilts as soil swells and contracts through our wet winters.

• Color fading or chalking unevenly. South-facing sections near the Santa Clara University campus bleach faster than north-facing ones. If the fading is patchy rather than uniform, the original installer likely mixed production batches without checking date codes.
• Rail ends pull out of post pockets. The bracket screws back out when the vinyl post sleeve flexes in wind, which happens more on corner posts that take load from two directions. The bracket itself is usually fine; the post wall has ovalized.
